Research Interests: Epistemology, Meta-philosophy, Philosophy of Mind.
Biography: I'm Dr. Chris Ranalli, a postdoctoral fellow at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). I work at the Instituto de Investigaciones Filosóficas (Institute of Philosophical Research). I received a Ph.D. in Philosophy at the University of Edinburgh. Professor Duncan Pritchard and Dr. Allan Hazlett supervised me, and Professor Quassim Cassam (Warwick) and Dr. Mikkel Gerken (Edinburgh) examined me for the Ph.D.
I held a Philosophy PhD Career Development Scholarship from the University of Edinburgh Philosophy Department, at the School of Philosophy, Psychology, and Language Sciences. I was part of the Epistemology research cluster.
I began pursuing academic philosophy at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in 2006. I finished in December 2009, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Honors, in Philosophy. I wrote a senior research project on vagueness, truth, and one of Putnam's arguments against realism.
I was a visiting student for Honors (years 3 and 4) philosophy at the University of Edinburgh from September 2008 to June 2009. After completing the B.A. at VCU, I arrived back in Edinburgh at the end of December 2009, beginning a Master of Research (MRes) in Philosophy (Edinburgh's research intensive masters degree) in January 2010. I was admitted to the Ph.D. program during this time, and began the Ph.D. with the support of the department's Philosophy Career Developmental Scholarship.
I was a visiting research student in philosophy at the University of California, Berkeley, in the autumn of 2011. I was advised by Professor Barry Stroud.
I've also attended summer schools at the University of Bamberg (2012; 2014), and the University of Cologne (2013; 2012; 2010).
Aside from my philosophical interests, I have broad interests within the the humanities and sciences, including literature, psychotherapy, linguistics, and cognitive science.
